The development or scaling-up of suicide prevention strategies on a national/regional level was one of the key objectives of the EU-funded Joint Action (JA) ImpleMENTAL. SUicide PRevention Austria (SUPRA), the Austrian multilevel national suicide prevention programme, was one two best practice examples selected by the EU Steering Group on Promotion and Prevention for implementa-tion in defined EU-countries. Seventeen participating countries aimed to transfer and pilot implement selected elements of SUPRA within the timeframe of the JA (Oct. 2021-Oct 2024).
The presentation will briefly describe the objectives and scope of the project, before highlighting main achievements and findings across the JA ImpleMEN-TAL Network (i.e. the countries involved). The focus of the input will be on the critical reflection of JA ImpleMENTALs contribution to promoting sustainable change in suicide prevention in participating countries, e.g.,
- by guiding these to drafting/revising national suicide prevention strate-gies
- as well as implementing prioritized measures and quick wins.
- Lessons learned, key success factors and challenges of the international collaboration and also at national level will be shared,
closing with a brief outlook towards future activities beyond the Joint Action.
The presentation will be based on a collaboration with group-authorship (involvement of different work packages of JA ImpleMENTAL): Joy Ladurner, Alexander Grabenhofer-Eggerth, Austrian National Public Health Institute; Alexandr Kasal, National Institute of Mental Health, Czech Republic; Eva Tusková, Ministry of Health, Czech Republic. Vasileia Konte, National Public Health Organisations, Attica, Greece; Faith Thomson, Felix Bolinski, Trimbos Institut Utrecht Netherlands; Danijela Stimac Grbic, Croatian Institute of Public Health, Ana Zegrec, Croatian Institute of Public Health; Bernadett Bulyovszky, National Directorate General for Hospitals Hungary.
